We understand that circumstances can change sometimes. Work commitments, personal responsibilities, travel, family situations, or unexpected events may make it difficult to participate in your programme at the time you originally planned.
At 10Alytics, we understand that these situations can happen. That is why participants have the option to defer their enrolment to a later cohort, subject to the applicable deferment policy. Read section D of our Terms and Conditions
This article explains everything you need to know about course deferment, including:
- When you can defer for free
- When the £150 GBP re-enrolment fee applies
- How many times you can defer
- Whether you can defer into the following year
- What happens if you have not started your programme
- What happens in critical or exceptional circumstances
- How to request a deferment
- What information to provide when requesting special consideration
What Does Course Deferment Mean?
Course deferment means moving your enrolment from your current cohort to a later cohort instead of cancelling your enrolment.
For example, if you are enrolled in the August cohort but realise that you cannot participate at that time, you may be able to move your enrolment to the September cohort, provided your request falls within the applicable deferment period.
Deferment allows you to continue with your programme at a later date without having to cancel your enrolment.
Do I Have to Pay Extra to Defer My Course?
Not always.
You can defer your programme once for free if you make the request within the applicable free deferment window.
However, if you request a deferment outside this window, a £150 GBP re-enrolment fee will apply, subject to the applicable exceptions and case-by-case reviews outlined below.
When Can I Defer for Free?
The free deferment window runs from the time you enrol in your current cohort until the start of the next cohort.
In simple terms, you can request one free deferment between the period you enrol in your current cohort and the start of the next available cohort.
Foe Example: August to September Cohort
Let's say you purchase your programme and enrol in the August cohort.
If you later realise that you cannot participate in the August cohort, you can request to defer to either the September or October cohort, provided the request is made before the September cohort begins.
This deferment can be made once and without paying an additional fee.
Another way to understand it:
August cohort enrolment → Request deferment before September cohort starts → Move to either September or October cohort → No re-enrolment fee
Once the next cohort has started, the standard free deferment window has passed.
Therefore, we strongly recommend contacting the Support team as early as possible if you know you will not be able to participate in your current cohort.
What Happens If I Request a Deferment Outside the Free Window?
If you request a deferment after the free deferment window has passed, a £150 GBP re-enrolment fee will apply.
The re-enrolment fee applies to deferment requests that fall outside the standard free deferment period.
Example:
If you were enrolled in the August cohort but did not request a deferment before the September cohort started, and you later request to move your enrolment to another cohort, the request would fall outside the free deferment window.
In this situation, the £150 GBP re-enrolment fee may apply.
What If I Haven't Started My Programme?
If you have not attended any classes and have not watched or utilised any learning videos on the Learning Management System (LMS), your deferment request may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
This is particularly relevant when the request falls outside the standard free deferment window.
In such situations, the Admissions team will review your circumstances before deciding whether the request can be approved.
Please note that case-by-case consideration does not guarantee approval.
The request may be approved or declined depending on the circumstances.
Can I Defer My Programme More Than One or Two Months Ahead?
Generally, participants can only defer their programme to a cohort that is one to two months ahead of their current enrolled cohort, depending on the applicable cohort schedule.
For example, if you are enrolled in an August cohort, the normal deferment option would be to move to an upcoming cohort such as September, subject to availability and the applicable deferment rules.
Participants cannot normally defer their enrolment indefinitely or select any future cohort several months or years ahead.
If you are unsure which cohort you can defer to, contact Support for guidance before submitting your request.
Can I Defer My Programme to the Next Year?
Generally, no.
Participants cannot normally move their enrolment from a current cohort directly into the following year.
The standard deferment process is designed to allow participants to move their enrolment to an upcoming cohort within the permitted deferment period.
Exception: November and December Cohorts
Participants enrolled in November and December cohorts may be able to defer into the following year because of the timing of these cohorts.
This exception is subject to the applicable cohort schedule and deferment rules.
If you are enrolled in a November or December cohort and need to defer into the following year, contact Support as early as possible so your specific situation can be reviewed.
What If I Have a Critical or Unforeseen Situation?
We understand that some situations are beyond your control.
If you are experiencing a critical situation and are unsure when you will be able to resume your training, you may be able to request an alternative arrangement.
If you:
- Have not attended any classes, and
- Have not watched or utilised the learning videos on the LMS,
you may request to have your enrolment placed on credit instead of cancelling your enrolment.
This option is intended for exceptional situations where you cannot confidently commit to a specific future cohort.
What Does It Mean to Put My Enrolment on Credit?
Putting your enrolment on credit means that your existing enrolment and payments are preserved while you temporarily pause your participation.
Where approved:
- Your subsequent payment may be paused.
- Your account may be partially suspended.
- Your existing investment in the programme remains intact.
- You do not need to cancel your enrolment.
- You can return when you are ready to resume your training.
When you are ready to return, your enrolment will need to be restarted based on the programme's current structure and pricing at that time.
If the programme price has increased since your original enrolment, you will be required to pay the balance difference between what you have already paid and the current programme price.
For Example:
Suppose you originally enrolled in a programme when the total programme fee was $1,000 and you paid $500.
Due to a critical circumstance, your enrolment is placed on credit.
Several months later, you are ready to resume, but the programme is now priced at $1,200.
Your previous $500 payment remains credited toward your enrolment. However, because the current programme price is $1,200, you would need to settle the applicable remaining balance based on the current price.
This means your original payment is preserved, but the programme's current price applies when you return.
How Many Times Can I Defer My Programme?
A participant can normally defer their programme once.
If you have already used your deferment and later request another deferment, the second deferment request will require a £150 GBP re-enrolment fee.
Example:
You enrol in the August cohort and defer to September.
That counts as your one deferment.
If you later decide that you cannot participate in the September cohort and want to move to another cohort, your second deferment request will be subject to the £150 GBP re-enrolment fee.
For this reason, we encourage participants to carefully consider their preferred resumption date before requesting a deferment.
Which Option Applies to My Situation?
Use the guide below to understand which option may apply to you.
I just enrolled but cannot attend my current cohort
If the next cohort has not started yet, contact Support as soon as possible to request your one free deferment or directly on the LMS platform.
The next cohort has already started
Your request falls outside the standard free deferment window. A £150 GBP re-enrolment fee may apply.
I have not attended any classes or used the LMS learning videos
Your request may be eligible for case-by-case review, particularly if you are requesting deferment outside the normal window.
I have experienced a critical situation and don't know when I can return
If you have not attended classes or utilised the LMS learning videos, you may request to have your enrolment placed on credit for consideration.
I have already deferred once
A second deferment request will require the £150 GBP re-enrolment fee.
I want to defer until next year
This is generally not permitted, except for applicable November and December cohort situations. If you have a critical circumstance, contact Support to discuss whether an enrolment-on-credit option may be appropriate.

Before You Request a Deferment
Before submitting your request, consider the following:
1. Check your current cohort
Confirm the cohort you are currently enrolled in and its start date.
2. Check the next available cohort
If you want to defer for free, make sure you submit your request before the next cohort starts.
3. Contact Support early
Do not wait until your current cohort has already started if you know you cannot participate.
The earlier you communicate your situation, the easier it is for the team to review and advise you on your available options.
4. Consider whether you have started your programme
If you have already attended classes or utilised learning materials, this may affect your eligibility for certain deferment options.
5. Remember that deferment can only be used once
Your first deferment may be free when requested within the applicable window. A second deferment will require the £150 GBP re-enrolment fee.
